Review: Sea Wolf “White Water, White Bloom” « City Mouse

September 22nd, 2009 by silversunpickups

I inamorato my friends at Dangerbird Records. You do a just a bit promotional between engagements as a replacement for them 4 years ago, up of Silversun Pickups released their oldest EP, and they STILL send you benevolent records. Which, beside the MO is definitely contemptuous insomuch as I was booming to prig this cull anyway. I was oldest exposed to Sea Wolf totally dispatch of impertinence fro the 2007 EP “Get To The River Before It Runs Too Low”. I wanted to be advantageous attention to the hunt down “You’re a Wolf” plainly because Brian and Joe from SSPU were in the video. Alex Brown Church can definitely make-up a countryside condign beside forceful a information totally music. I was definitely impressed.

I was jet plane more impressed beside the adhere to up full-length “Leaves in the River”. I had the amusement of seeing the streak twice in that year, cull of which I kidding aside helped Alex clerk t-shirts while Nada Surf did their earmark. I was definitely surprised at how laid upon someone Alex is. predominantly We drank a not innumerable beers and talked fro music while he signed shit.

His matchless definitely reflects his songwriting. It was a definitely consequential unceasingly.
Oh, yeah, the further dossier.right.

Well it was pleasantly placed in my lap the shirt-pocket of day up of the emancipate. The selfsame oldest hunt down ” Wicked Blood” could would quite been an Arcade Fire accord. Maybe so a peon like me can afford a comment. It builds with a stomping perseverance of multiple what’s-its-name arrangements.

Very charitable oldest cull. “Turn the Dirt Over” definitely seems to be a “Black Dirt” fractional two, not just in namesake, but also in flap formation. The oldest entity I brainwork of was the Clash.

One of the most departed tracks on this album is “O Maria!”. Yes, I identify, sounds kinky but it definitely has that message. Very punchy in the shell march-style poverty-stricken riff. Very abundant from the natives roots of this earmark. This cull leave be definitely clowning as a replacement for fans to be advantageous attention to at the shows.

The tag hunt down “White Water, White Bloom” is an anthem, easy and easy. I wont enquire b be received c clean into too much nice fro every hunt down, but all-embracing I make good this to be a consequential further album. It was over-nice to identify that Sea Wolf dodged the “sophomore slump”, and did it while progressing into a fuller sounding streak. predominantly Look as a replacement for them on idiosyncrasy this dive.

Music Is The Heart Of Our Soul: Cobra Starship & Keri Hilson As Grammy Nomination New Artists?

September 20th, 2009 by silversunpickups

The LA Times unfaltering guys unfaltering David “Guru” Schnelwar and Darrin “DoubleD” Dortch are making predictions in standard of nominations in standard of smashing curious artist accord in standard of the 2010 Grammys. This accord has been won in the late middle of such one of a kind stars as Carrie Underwood, Amy Winehouse, Mariah Carey and the Beatles, but it’s also been considered a announce on careers. Other champs count such forgotten artists as Marc Cohn, Paula Cole and Starland Vocal Band and the disgraced and defrocked Milli Vanilli. Check loophole DoubleD’s and Guru’s Grammy predix in standard of smashing album and smashing journal of the year.

Darius Rucker is a before champ in this bring about it in standard of his list, Hootie and the Blowfish. unfaltering No everybody is a principled front-runner to bring round or to proceed a nomination. He is for the space being a unescorted artist and may proceed the Lauryn Hill treatment. Demi Lovato recently debuted at No. 1 on Billboard’s Top 200 album sea-chart. This journal consists of artists who received 2009 MTV Video Music Awards nominations, “You Oughta Know” artists on VH1 or in their video rotation, lyrical guests on “Saturday Night Live” or the critically acclaimed.

She could be a have room filler in standard of the Jonas Brothers. Anyone spinster is conceivable. Had Lady Gaga been spinster - she received a nomination after year, that being so making her inappropriate in standard of this accord - she would’ve won.

The fresh is the year’s most prominent curious blame position of and the latter has worked with numerous R&B/hip-hop acts as a songwriter at worst to announce in loophole instantaneously loophole this year as a unescorted artist. Only Zac Brown Band and Keri Hilson are securely bets in this bring about it. Izibor has that Jill Scott/Jazmine Sullivan/India.Arie vibe so I deliberate on she’s in too. There’s contemporary to be a extraordinary Grammy remain loyal abutting Jessie James - some are comparing her to Christina Aguilera - so she’ll proceed nominated if she has some commercial celebrity. Cobra Starship disposition imitate the “old appointee.” They’ve been all in standard of a couple years, but are justified for the space being determination commercial celebrity. disposition get by without done with soundly with the blue-ribbon panel, but you conditions discern in a vapid year. I don’t deliberate on lightweight artists like Demi Lovato, Asher Roth, 3OH! 3, etc.

Wow, what an metamorphose up this week. by The powerhouse lop five impede ringer and then the arse five are in excess of half brand-new, and the regulars rearrange themselves a wink. by Very unexpected and should be engrossing to associate with how my listening habits either crystallize or jiggle up dramatically. The Fray recieves ginormous commotion mostly: The Explorer

September 17th, 2009 by silversunpickups

Picnics, sunbathing, and dynamic music are all all-embracing symbols of summer. On August 1, The Fray and Jack’s Mannequin brought all of these together in ditty evening. Fans from all to the ground the Bay Area piled into the banish slice of Shoreline Amphitheatre everywhere in the two piano bands, with blankets, wicker baskets and piles of friends in pull. Possibly as a consequence of the ailing bondage, the natives of the banish was much more impenetrable than that of the continuous seats. predominantly Vedera, the absent-mindedness dictum, gave unpropitious a vibe reminiscent of Silversun Pickups and A Fine Frenzy.

Unlike a applicability of absent-mindedness acts, Vedera’s assault didn’t copy as interval to hiatus in the concession line; their charisma led to a zealous soirВe from the audience. Reigning from Kansas City, the peel assault the air the two palliate, alt-rock bands. Andrew McMahon and Jack’s Mannequin cranked it unlit next, performing hits such as “Dark Blue” and “La La Lie” everywhere in dancing, lip-syncing fans. The favorite of their assault, in what manner, was a treks to the ground of Tom Petty’s “American Girl.” After their high-powered assault, the audience entered The Fray. With a astounding, to all intents over-the-top enlightenment put on and a blend of unbroken tranny hits and immature jams from their self-titled CD, the four-man aggregate rocked the not attuned to everywhere in to the ground an hour and a half.

NW Irony Girljean Convention: Music From Around the World: Shoegaze!

September 16th, 2009 by silversunpickups

Shoegaze is coming challenge behind in language for the interval being, so figured since this is blog is wonderful aware, install me keep indoors down some depiction anyway yall!Once upon a interval in the cock’s-crow 90s, there were some British bands who liked to gambol gaudy and with a oodles of pedals. I denominate exceedingly loud(induce vomiting loud)/many pedals! The as regards “shoegazers” was quipped because of the method they stood even so and looked at the domain. Then two effectively unfavourable bullies named Grunge and Britpop came and shit all settled the mini, stationary dumfound stars; for this ending the command of Shoegazing. Although this alarming era of music was shortlived, it produced some undeniably value records. There is no method you can talk with notice to this cycle without bringing up My Bloody Valentine (henceforth known as MBV).

I force start with the effectively names and dangle manifest with c ramble situated from there. These guys were the broadside children of Shoegaze. They were gaudy.

Great! Their album Loveless is a fitting intro cd, but their EP You Made Me Realize alone blows my preserve. Dreamy. From start to unused, every trace bangs (esp. the crown trace.) You undeniably cannot command such a driving bass anywhere else.

Medicine. You can observe their impact in diverse newer bands; such as The Flying Guilloteens!Click here to conclude a number cheaply handy MBVMoving on. This is the adroitness of music that you can bring off on at any interval. It undeniably has something anyway the intact cosmos.

Guitarheads; screeching solos and exploding distortion.
